Brother se600 review, opinions and pros and cons

This article is brought to you by Lizzsews.

Are you interested in getting the Brother se600? Want to know what others think of the machine? Well here’s what I think of the brother se600!

I’m going to share what I think about the price, is it easy to use, is it easy to clean, is it loud and the pros and cons. And finish it off with my overall opinion.

Price

The brother se600 is known to be the best budget combo machine. You get both sewing and embroidery for a decent price. Compared to other combo machines with the same embroidery hoop size, this one is the best price and quality.

For the price I would give this machine a 10/10

Is it easy to use?

This machine is very user-friendly. With a very descriptive manual, lots of articles, and Facebook groups ready to help you with all your questions.

The brother se600 also has little diagrams showing you how to thread the machine, so you do it right every time.

As with all machines, it will take a bit of time to learn to use it. It will never be a “learn in a day” thing. There is and will be a learning curve to any embroidery or sewing machine.

For ease of use I would give this machine a 10/10

Is it easy to clean?

This machine is very easy to clean. All you have to do is clean the race with the brush that comes with your machine. Because of the top drop-in bobbin, this makes it jam-resistant, easy, and convenient to use. No oil is required to clean.

Sometimes you might get thread caught in the upper thread path, to fix this you can try to take a piece of floss to thread the machine with, or try a makeup brush.

As with all machines, you must take it in to be serviced after a year or so.

For the ease of cleaning, I would give this machine a 9/10

Is it loud?

The machine is very sturdy while embroidering, which in turn does make it quieter.

The machine is not so loud that you can’t be in the same room as it, but it is still loud enough that you can hear it stitching and would wake a child.

For the noise, I would give the brother se600 a 6/10

What is the hoop size?

The brother se600 has a small design area with only a 4x4 hoop size. A 4 x 4 embroidery hoop is very small and you will soon outgrow it, but if this is all you can afford, you will still have beautiful creations.

For the noise, I would give the brother se600 a 3/10

Pros:

- It can sew and embroider
- Lots of features
- Wide variety of built-in embroidery designs
- Easy to use/beginner-friendly
- Nice and bright work area
- Drop-in jam-resistant bobbin
- Auto needle threader
- LCD touch screen
- Easy to store as well as portable
- Wide variety of fabrics can be used
- Cheaper than most combo machines

Cons:

- It can be a pain to constantly swap from sewing to embroidery
- Is still quite expensive
- Not as fast as other machines
- The touchscreen can be quite confusing
- Small design area, 4” x 4”

I would say of all of these cons, the largest con is that the hoop is only 4” x 4” this means that your embroidery designs can only be that size unless using a repositional hoop or re-hooping.

A repositionable hoop allows you to do designs that are bigger than the area your machine does. For example, on machines that have a 4 X 4 embroidery area, you can purchase a 6.75 X 4 repositionable hoop. The only problem with repositionable hoops is that you have to split the design and to split an embroidery design you have to have machine embroidery software. Before learning to use a repositional hoop, I recommend first learning how to use your machine and how to embroider.

Overall

In conclusion, I love this machine! I have little to no problems with it and can do both my sewing and embroidery.

My main points:
  - The perfect combo budget machine
  - It does get annoying swapping between sewing and embroidery
  - Small design area of 4" x 4"

I would give this machine a 7/10!

Please remember that these are just my opinions on the brother se600 combo machine and that everyone has their own opinions :)

Guide To The Three Main Machine Embroidery Stabilizers

This article is brought to you by  Lizzsews . Here is everything that you need to know about the three main machine embroidery stabilizers. Stabilizers are important in machine embroidery; they prevent puckering and support the fabric.  The stabilizer goes underneath the fabric you are embroidering. Although there are some stabilizers that will go on top of certain types of fabric, this is called a topper.  A bottom stabilizer is always needed, you can never embroider without stabilizer, but a stabilizer topper is only needed for certain blanks. The three main types of stabilizers are cutaway, tearaway, and wash away.  The first is a cutaway stabilizer. A cutaway stabilizer can be used on clothes and many different types of fabric. The cutaway stabilizer is permanent and is mainly designed for knit fabric. It is non-woven and helps get rid of pulled or sagging stitches.  The cutaway stabilizer has a lot of stretch resistance and stays intact after wearing, using, and launderin
